Childhood Obesity Clinical Research

Childhood Obesity Clinical Research

According to the American Heart Association, about one in three American children and teenagers are either overweight or obese, which is nearly triple the rate in 1963.

Childhood obesity, and obesity in general, is more than a superficial concern. It is a major health problem that affects the entire body and can lead to a number of medical complications. It doesn't take much to help childhood obesity, and we're committed to fighting the nationwide epidemic through research and medical advances.

  • in the 95th percentile or higher are considered obese
  • between the 85th and 95th percentile are considered overweight
  • between the 5th and 85th percentile are considered normal weight
  • below the 5th percentile are considered underweight

If left untreated, childhood obesity could lead to serious health conditions, including type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, heart disease, or even death.

If your child suffers from childhood obesity, they might be eligible to volunteer for a clinical trial at Aventiv Research. Participants may receive compensation for time and travel. Contact us at 614-501-6164 or complete our online volunteer form.
