Cytomegalovirus (CMV) Trials in Columbus

Aventiv Research is currently participating in an investigational Cytomegalovirus (CMV) vaccine study at our Columbus, Ohio location. Cytomegalovirus (CMV) is a common virus. Over half of adults in the U.S. have it in their body by age 40. CMV spreads easily through an infected person’s saliva or other body fluids. Once infected with CMV, your body retains the virus for life. Most people don’t know they have CMV because it rarely causes problems in healthy people, but if you’re pregnant or if your immune system is weakened, CMV is cause for concern. CMV is the most common infectious cause of birth defects in newborn babies. Women who develop an active CMV infection during pregnancy can pass the virus to their babies, who might then experience symptoms. Some babies with congenital CMV infection have health problems that are apparent at birth or that develop later during infancy or childhood.
