Chikungunya Vaccine Trials in Columbus

Aventiv Research is currently participating in a chikungunya vaccine study at our Columbus, Ohio location. Chikungunya is a viral disease transmitted to humans by infected mosquitoes. The symptoms of chikungunya are similar to those of dengue and Zika—diseases spread by the same mosquitoes that transmit chikungunya. It causes fever and severe joint pain. Other symptoms include muscle pain, headache, nausea, fatigue and rash. Like any other drug, a new vaccine must be tested on human subjects before being approved for use by the Federal Drug Administration (FDA).
