COPD Clinical Trials

Woman coughing with COPD

Aventiv Research offers clinical trials on COPD (Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease) to discover advances in medical knowledge and treatment for the disease. As one of the most prominent disabilities in the United States, COPD is the third leading cause of death according to the National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute. There is no current cure, making clinical trials crucial to lead the development in finding possible treatments.

Aventiv COPD Clinical Trials Now Enrolling

Aventiv Research has participated in numerous COPD clinical trials over the years. Currently, we have several actively enrolling COPD, evaluating patients with COPD in various stages of severity. These studies involve a variety of medications and treatments, all at no cost to you.

You may qualify for a COPD study if you:

  • Have been diagnosed with COPD
  • Have a history of smoking or environmental risk factors
  • Willing to commit to scheduled visits and other procedures are part of the clinical trial

What is the Purpose of Clinical Trial Research for COPD

A clinical trial is the culmination of an effort to find a treatment for a disease, whether that treatment is a drug, new therapy, or some combination of the two. In addition, clinical trials are used to understand more about a disease and how it affects people.

COPD clinical trials can contribute to understanding and fighting COPD in many forms. COPD clinical trial research can cover such topics as:

  • Genetic factors increasing or decreasing risk for COPD
  • How certain medicines and therapies can help those suffering from COPD
  • Find out how effective education is for improving the quality of life of those suffering from COPD
  • How bacteria and toxins found in the lungs can or can’t contribute to COPD

Whether it’s discovering new drug therapies, or understanding how specific chronic lung diseases can progress, these clinical trials depend on patients working with medical professionals to understand how each test is, or is not working.

What are the Benefits of Enrolling in a COPD Clinical Trial?

While there is no cure for COPD, there are unique benefits to participating in clinical trial research, including:

  • Providing patients with close medical evaluation and attention from a team of physicians and research coordinators – at no cost to you
    • Physical exams
    • Breathing tests
    • Labs
    • X-rays
  • Providing patients with access to innovative therapies that are not publicly available
  • Providing medical professionals with increasingly important data
  • Compensation for time and travel for each visit to Aventiv sites (depends on individual trial)

The willingness of patients to work with research staff is one of the major driving forces behind the success of a clinical trial. Knowing that your contribution may help someone else in a similar situation, even if the results of the trial you participate in don’t benefit you directly, is something that keeps our volunteers enrolling.
